Chaga Inonotus obliquus

Contains betulinic acid and beta-glucans
Very high ORAC & SOD values
3-way extraction method, for full spectrum synergy

Traditional use

Chaga has been used by the Ainu people of Eastern Asia for at least 600 years, but possibly for as long as millenia. Indigenous tribes use it for its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Since its discovery it has also been used as an adaptogen to help enhance the body’s response to stress, illness and serious disorders.

In ancient texts, chaga is referred to as ‘The king of herbs’, ‘The diamond of the forest’, and ‘The gift of nature’ for its ability to heal and to promote general health, as well as for its unique composition of active compounds.

Process

We personally select and sustainably harvest the chaga mushrooms in Finnish forests in order to secure old and healthy specimens that are rich in active compounds. Immediately after harvest, they are extracted in three ways to preserve the full spectrum of active components found in fresh chaga. This process involves high-tech methods based on traditional techniques and only natural ingredients. The extracts are then stabilized and flavoured with organic maple syrup.

Science

Chaga contains many antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, phenols, and enzymes and lends itself perfectly to preparing powerful teas or tinctures. The compounds in chaga have a very high oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) value and high superoxide dismutase (SOD), antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Because of its widely acclaimed health benefits, chaga is currently used in research into the following health issues:

  • weakened and impaired immune systems
  • muscle and joint problems
  • digestive problems
  • mental and memory disorders

The following properties are attributed to chaga:

  • antimutagenic
  • antiviral
  • anti-malarial
  • anti-parasitic
  • anti-bacterial

Chaga is also used more and more in research into cancer treatments

REISHI Ganoderma lucidum

Shen tonic (spiritual nutrition)
Powerful antioxidants with many acclaimed health benefits
3-way extraction method, for full spectrum synergy

Traditional use

Reishi, also known as lingzhi, ‘the mushroom of immortality’, was first described by Huangdi, the Yellow Emperor, in his famous book on Chinese traditional medicine, where he attributes many life-enhancing properties to the lingzhi mushroom. In China it is believed to be one of the most powerful tonics in existence. Allegedly, it is especially useful for counteracting the degenerative impact of ageing. It does not only nourish the body, but also the mind; Taoist monks claim it is the most potent shen tonic or spiritual nutrition. There are different forms of reishi available but the antler form, which is rarely found in nature, is traditionally said to be the most powerful one.

In ancient China, it was determined by royal decree, that all collected antler reishi belonged to the emperor for the benefit of the country and the people.

The process

We have developed our own computer-controlled growing facility, which is why we are one of the very few producers of reishi in antler form. Unlike most other producers, we grow reishi in a sustainable manner, in daylight and on naturally fallen wood. The extraction takes place in our own laboratory to ensure its quality and potency. It is extracted in three ways to preserve the full spectrum of active components found in fresh reishi. This process involves high-tech methods based on traditional techniques and only natural ingredients. The extracts are then stabilized and flavoured with organic maple syrup.

Science

Reishi contains many immunostimulating polysaccharides called beta-glucans. These compounds stimulate the immune system without causing over-activation. It also contains ganoderic acids, powerful antioxidants with many acclaimed health benefits.

In Japan, reishi extract is used in hospitals as a complement to cancer treatment.

LION’S MANE Hericium erinaceus

Stimulates nerve growth factor (NGF)
Accelerates myelin growth
3-way extraction method, for full spectrum synergy

Traditional use

Lion’s mane or, as it is called in Japanese, mountain priest mushroom, has long been used as a general restorative and support for the functions of the mind.

Process

We personally cultivate, harvest, process and extract the lion’s mane, making it possible to offer you the freshest, purest and strongest elixir available. It is extracted in three ways to preserve the full spectrum of active components found in fresh lion’s mane. This process involves high-tech methods based on traditional techniques and only natural ingredients. The extracts are then stabilized and flavoured with organic maple syrup.

Science

Lion’s mane stimulates the brain to produce more NGF (nerve growth factor). These neuropeptides are responsible for the growth, maintenance, and proliferation of neurons in the human brain. As we age, the activity of these neuropeptides decreases, causing the deterioration of brain function. NGF helps maintain a vital and healthy brain.

NGF is also responsible for the production of new myelin sheaths. These myelin sheaths are protective layers around the nerves and they accelerate the flow of signals between cells. When these sheaths are damaged, as is the case with diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, these control signals go back and forth much slower. Therapies for these diseases are currently being developed on the basis of lion’s mane and NGF.

Lion’s mane also has neurotrophic properties. This means that it stimulates the growth and differentiation of neurons. These play an important role in learning and the development of the brain.

THE MUSHROOMIST

Integrating ancient knowledge into modern society

The Mushroomist is a unique symbiosis of professional mushroom cultivators and a medicinal herb extraction laboratory. Together we are finding new ways to integrate ancient knowledge into modern-day society. One way of doing this is by processing mushrooms into powerful full spectrum extracts that are easy to use on the go.

We cultivate, harvest and extract the mushrooms ourselves. This gives us control over every part of the production process, which is why we’re able to offer you the freshest, purest, and strongest sustainably produced extract available.
